HMM..

HI friends! I wanted to start off this post with an introduction of my favorite place in the world, it’s called Sugar Mill Pond here in Lafayette. My husband first introduced it to me whenever we went on our very first date, here’s a picture of the first date we went on as a couple:
ImageImage

He set up the table under the gazebo & got me my favorite meal – sushi! My husband is such a romantic! Ever since then we would go there whenever we could! We would go just to have time together because I was doing my 2nd year of Master’s Commission & my husband was not, he was working & sometimes I had to just get away from there. Sugar Mill Pond is probably the most peaceful place that I have been to. We would go to just hang out & talk or read our Word & pray. Sugar Mill pond is also where he proposed to me:
ImageImageImageImageImage

The pond has a sidewalk that goes around the whole pond, Daniel had picture frames like the first picture set up all along the path, now this was on my birthday so I just thought it was for my birthday because he downplayed the proposal so much! At each picture frame he told me different themes like there was one with all of our firsts on it, like our first dance, our first date & so on. At the end we got to the pier & there was rose pedals going all the way down to where the last picture frame was (2nd picture) &that is where he popped the question. So with all that said, Sugar Mill has been a very special place for me. So I’ve decided to do my 5k training there. 2 laps around is 1 mile. I like running there cause I can pray & get some thinking done & I can actually see where the end is unlike running on a treadmill so it makes me actually want to run, I mean look at that place! how could you not want to just go there!?

Last night, Daniel & I went on a date finally! He gave me the choice of BoneFish or Olive Garden, I chose Olive Garden because I have been craving their salad & breadsticks for a while.
ImageImageImageImageImageImage
afterwords, we came home & watched Iron Man 3. It was a great having quality time with my husband! Speaking of quality time, that is my love language (:

& after all that, here is today:
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Today we’ve done nothing really because it’s been storming! Finally got a chance to clean the whole house though, that was really nice. My husband is now out playing tennis with his friends & I am sitting here waiting for my friend to come over. I am so blessed to have a friend like her. That’s one thing I’ve been really pressing in & praying for lately is some Godly friends who encourage me & help me grow in Christ. Right now I barely have friends. I’ve tried countless times to keep the connection but it just didn’t work out. My husband & I have decided to start going to Our Saviors for now. We’re looking to get into ministry. We’re going to start going to their college age services on monday & meet friends & hopefully some Godly couples to start hanging out with.

Another Day, Another Dollar

20131002-100306.jpg

20131002-100329.jpg

I’m posting this from my phone today while at work… I know, I’m such a good employee being on my phone during work but actually they don’t care & I have no, zero, none, zilch patients this morning so I’m trying to speed things up til lunch at 12:30, it’s 10:00 right now. So sorry if anything is spelled wrong, it’s hard typing from my phone especially since ever since I updated to IOS7 it’s been going pretty slow.

So lately, things have been.. Well I dk how to describe it. My mom called me two Sundays ago to tell me that my pawpaws in the hospital. He went in to get his gal bladder removed & they found all kinds of infection inside of him, he actually went into cardiac arrest & died but they were able to revive him. I went last weekend to see him. He was doing better but they can’t take him off of the breathing tube because he can’t breathe on his own & he’s still in ICU & their saying now that his kidneys are failing. I went & saw him in the hospital Friday, immediately started crying, it’s so hat to see such a strong man be weak. I just wanted to stay by his side the whole weekend. I went & saw him again Sunday, my Mawmaw was there so heartbroken, I honestly think that if my pawpaw dies my Mawmaw won’t be far along because her heart would be so broken. Whenever I went in there with her she just broke down & kept saying oh God please bring him back, it was so sad. They started him on dialysis on Sunday for his kidneys. We’re praying this works & he can stick around for a few more years & also praying his blood pressure won’t go down. So if y’all could agree with me in prayer that would be great! He was the rock of the family, it will be hard for everyone to let him go if we had to. I haven’t heard anything since Sunday, I guess no news is good news. Get better soon pawpaw! We all love you so much! You would be so proud of all your kids & their spouses, they have all stepped up so much to take care of you. & their taking care of Mawmaw so well while your away & your house.

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Isaiah 54:10 NIV)

Oh Baby!

So it’s been a while since i’ve blogged, I’ve been super busy with work & looking for a 2nd part time job. Since my husband & I moved into our own place, our bills have been stacking up & its hard when I am the only full time worker & he is a full time student. I mean he is working too but not enough so we’re both picking up a 2nd job. I’m trying to get a job at a coffee shop since that’s where i have experience. With all that being said, I know that God will provide! He’s done it before when Daniel got laid off of his job & I was in school to become a Dental Assistant (it was only an 8 week school but i did not start working til july, school ended in may); we didn’t know how we were going to do it but we did through Christ! So we have NO doubt that God will provide & remain faithful to us now.

So Sunday was my sister in law’s baby shower, thing is, she already had her baby! She gave birth to little Karsyn Elizabeth on Monday before her baby shower. The baby is in ICU & was there during the baby shower. Here are a few pictures of my outfit.

It was a good time & I always love spending time with the in laws!

It’s supposed to be getting cold here next week! i am SO ready! ((:
Well I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Rainy Day in LA (Louisiana)

So today is another gloomy, rainy day. Didn’t really go out too much.

My husband & I started off our morning with breakfast – eggs & pancakes & coffee. After that, my husband sat by the computer & put on some worship music & read His book (gods at war by Kyle Idleman) while I sat in my favorite spot in the whole house with my coffee & read my Bible then my book (Not a Fan. by Kyle Idleman). We sat there with the tv off, just reading or talking or in my case, just looking out the window until noon then we got up to start getting ready although I just went out & got me a coffee & he left to go play tennis at Reds with his friends. Today’s a good lazy day though if i do say so myself (:

This is my favorite spot, right in the corner by the windows (:

ImageImage
Look how gloomy it is outside, it was like that all day yesterday, & today, & its supposed to be like that tomorrow too ): but hopefully it brings in some cool weather! It’s 75 degrees outside right now (:

Here’s some pics of my ootd:
ImageImageImageImage
This is only my 2nd time wearing this poncho, I don’t know why I don’t wear it more often! It’s so comfy (:
Those jeans are actually grey, they look blue in those pictures for some reason.

Not a Fan.

I was reading my book today Not a Fan. by Kyle Idleman & it really hit home for me. I’d really like to share some of it with you.

“Selling Jesus”

If you’re in sales or have ever been around a good salesperson then you know just what I mean. They emphasize all the positive things they think you’ll be glad to hear, and they quickly skip over what might be less appealing. Churches can be reluctant to shine a bright light on commitment in fear that it might hurt sales numbers.

Jesus doesn’t hold back with Nicodemus. Following Jesus would require a commitment that would cost Nicodemus a great deal. As we look at what it means to follow Jesus, this will become a theme. In fact, it’s true throughout all of Scripture. Moses couldn’t follow God without standing in front of Pharaoh. Noah couldn’t follow God without building an ark that would bring ridicule from his neighbors. Daniel couldn’t follow God by praying to Him alone without being thrown into a lions’ den. Following Jesus isn’t something you can do at night where no one notices. It’s a twenty-four-hour-a-day commitment that will interfere with your life. That’s not the small print – that’s a guarantee.

Have you ever been flipping through the channels late at night and come across an annoying infomercial telling you how to get rich quick? An obnoxious spokesperson is looking into the camera and asking questions like, Would you like to make more money? How would you like to only fly first class? Any interest in retiring early? How would you like to never worry about finances again? and then you’re asked, Does that sound like something you might be interested in? Then the Billy Mays wannabe goes on to explain that all this can be yours for free. You don’t even have to pay shipping and handling.

How do you respond to that? How can you say no? It costs you nothing and offers you everything. And I wonder if some well-intentioned preachers may have missed their calling as late-night infomercial salesman. Because many people heard a gospel presentation that went something like this: How would you like to live forever? Would you like to have your sins forgiven and have a fresh start? Do you want to spend eternity in paradise instead of burning hell? Some take it even further … Would you like to live a prosperous life? Are you ready to claim the health and wealth God has in store for you? Does that sound like something you might be interested in? And while some people rolled their eyes and changed the channel, a lot of fans signed up.

They ordered a gospel that cost them nothing and offered them everything.

So in case someone left it out or forgot to mention it when they explained what it meant to be a Christian, let me be clear: There is no forgiveness without repentance. There is no salvation without surrender. there is no life without death. There is no believing without committing.

At the church where I am a pastor, someone sent an email asking to be removed from the church membership. The stated reason for leaving read as follows: I don’t like Kyle’s sermons.

That’s all it said. That begs for some kind of explanation, so I decided to call the person. I checked the name of the person and got the phone number. I wanted to confirm that it wasn’t my wife. That would have been awkward. I was driving in my car and called him on my cell phone. I would suggest that when making this type of call from your personal phone, first go to “settings” on your phone, then “show my caller ID” and then turn to “off”. Do not attempt while driving. When he answered I simply said, “Hey, this is Kyle Idleman. I understand you’re leaving the church because you don’t like my sermons.”

There was a brief silence. I caught him off guard jut as I had planned. It was awkward for a moment, and then he started talking – rambling really – trying to express what he meant. Somewhere in the middle of his lengthy explanation he said something. What he said was not meant to be encouraging, but his words caused me to breathe such a sigh of relief that tears came to my eyes. I pulled over to the side of the road, grabbed a pen, and wrote down what he said.

“Well, whenever I listen to one of the messages I feel like you are trying to interfere with my life.”

Yeah, umm, that’s kind of like my job description. But do you hear what he was saying? He’s saying – I believe in Jesus, I’m a big fan, but don’t ask me to follow. I don’t mind coming to church on the weekends. I’ll pray before meals. I’ll even slap a Jesus fish on my bumper. But I don’t want Jesus to interfere with my life. When Jesus defines the relationship he wants with us He makes it clear that being a fan who believes without making any real commitment to follow isn’t an option.

& it goes on to talk about Nicodemus & how he started to truly follow Jesus.

The last line of this chapter says “If you believed in darkness, Jesus now invites you to follow Him in the light.”

I hope you read the whole thing through, gives you something to REALLY think about.

Date Night at Home

So today is my favorite day, its friday!! I have work from 7 – 12 on fridays & then i get to come home & relax. Today i came home & took a nap which was amazing because it was raining! We have a sliding glass door in our bedroom (there’s a curtain covering it & our dresser is in front of it) that you can hear the rain clearly from, it was a nice little afternoon while my husband was at school. It’s supposed to rain all weekend bringing in the cool weather! I am SUPER excited about that!!

Well, my husband & I decided to have a little date night at home tonight. We’ve been spending money like crazy, just moving into our new place, buying a washer & dryer, getting direct tv & internet, & money on school books & other things, so we haven’t been able to have a date night out to dinner so we made dinner here. I always have fun with my husband when we do anything, he is my absolute best friend! Tonight we cooked pork chops, broccoli, & mac & cheese. We only get our meat from the local deli here called Little Verons. They have the freshest meat. We won’t buy any meats from walmart or similar grocery stores unless we absolutely have to.

Waiting for daddy to drop some food!

Top – Forever 21
Bottoms – Forever 21
Wedges – Forever21

This outfit is my FAVORITE outfit! I absolutely love the top! It is so flattering & girly, & I am the ultimate girly girl! The jeans are from Forever 21 but I actually bought them from a store here in Louisiana called Plato’s Closet for maybe 1 or 2 dollars cheaper. Plato’s Closet is a store where you sell your clothes (that are still in style) & other people can buy them, I love it! I have found some great things there for cheap!

So anyway, today was SUCH  stressful day! Listen to my story. So on thursdays i go into work at 7am & we got off at 4 & lunch is from 1 -2. Well at 2 today we had a photo shoot of the whole staff infront of the building because we won garden of the month or something like that so we had to be there at 2 sharp! so I live 10 minutes away from work, so I leave at 1:50 & of course that’s when a tractor & dump trunk want to back up onto the street I’m on & stop traffic completely & then get on the rode & drive 5mph. I finally got out of that at 1:56 & started driving fast to work, well, a cop on a motorbike got me! I got a speeding ticket for going 62 in a 45 & also my inspection sticker is a month expired & to top it off I pulled up to my work at about 2:10 & i see them all posing for the picture yelling for me to hurry up & get in. I was so embarrassed that i was late for the picture! …but i did have a good excuse. so needless to say, my husband & I are stressing about money & now we get hit with this, it’s a good thing we trust in God for our finances. I will not let the enemy get me down!! so after work i went to the local gym called REDS & sat in the sauna for 30 min, it was amazingggg.

well now that i’m done venting, i hope you are all having a great day! it’s rainy over here but it’s supposed to be bringing the cold weather! i am SUPER excited about fall/winter! i want to wear my boots sooo badly!
